ERCCIS Data Officer

Salary: £24,000 pa

The Environmental Records Centre for Cornwall & Isles of Scilly (ERCCIS) is looking to recruit a Data Officer on a fixed term contract to 30th September 2019. The Officer is responsible for the collation and management of large datasets owned and managed by ERCCIS.

Using their database management skillset the post holder will work to manage species data and undertake validation and verification on terrestrial and marine datasets according to nationally approved criteria. In the longer term the post holder will work with the wider team to develop ERCCIS databases (either via MS SQLServer & PostGresSQL). The Officer will assist in the management of internal and external GI datasets (ArcMap & ArcServer) and with training will disseminate ERCCIS owned GI datasets to SLA deadlines and standards. The Officer will work within the wider Cornwall Wildlife Trust (CWT) organisation to ensure efficient and effective management, appropriate usage and dissemination of ERCCIS managed datasets.

The Officer will co-ordinate ERCCIS volunteers to undertake species data management and work with the ERCCIS Data Manager to support volunteer development. The Officer will work with the ERCCIS Wildlife Information Service (WIS) team to support the wider recording community in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. The Officer will actively encourage recording effort in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly including promotion and support of Online Recording Kernow and Scilly (ORKS).

Full time Contract until 30 September 2019 - 37.5hours per week
