Time: 11am – 1pm

The survey includes settling into a sea-watching session, scanning the water for wildlife sightings. There’s time for breaks, and attendees are encouraged to bring a hot drink in a flask, snacks, and binoculars if available. Please wear or bring warm, waterproof clothing, and sturdy footwear, as the event takes place on exposed cliffs, where weather conditions can be unpredictable. Safety is a top priority, so be prepared for uneven terrain and cold winds. Everyone is welcome, making it a perfect activity for families, individuals, and nature lovers alike.

Public transport: To reach Coverack, the recommended public transport option is to take the 36 bus route operated by First Kernow. This service connects Falmouth and Helston to Coverack, with several stops in between. The journey from Falmouth to Coverack takes approximately 1 hour. Alternatively, if you're coming from Helston, the bus ride will take around 25 minutes. Once you arrive in Coverack, it's an easy walk to the coast. Be sure to check the current bus timetables, as services may be limited, particularly during off-peak hours.

Mobility

Participants can park at any of the three pay-and-display car parks, all within a 10-minute walk from the survey site at Dolar Point. The survey will take place in the corner of the Dolar Point car park, so no additional walking is needed. For those using the other car parks, the walk involves a 10-minute, mostly flat route along paths and pavements. The car park where the survey will take place is generally flat and tarmacked, though some areas may be slightly uneven. Seasonal toilets are located near the main parking areas at the entrance to the village, and year-round toilets are available opposite the Harbourmaster’s office above the harbour. Additional facilities, including cafes and shops, are located in Coverack village. While there are no designated quiet spaces, the Southwest Coast Path offers peaceful spots for visitors to rest and enjoy the stunning coastal views.
