Cornwall Wildlife Trust is leading a project to reintroduce wild beavers to the Par and Fowey catchments, aiming to restore these ecosystem engineers to Cornwall.
Our long-term vision is to achieve a self-sustaining and genetically diverse population of beavers in the project area, so we can collectively feel the benefits from this keystone species being back in the landscape. This project could bring benefits to the catchment, including enhanced biodiversity, flood mitigation, and improved water quality.
Once the consultation events are complete and the government opens the application process, Cornwall Wildlife Trust, will submit a wild release licence application to Natural England for review.
