 A traditional farmhouse and stunning views over the Malpas Passage, and down the river to Kea and beyond, make the south facing hillside gardens at Little Park Farm in Malpas something very special. Visitors and residents can see for themselves when Little Park opens in aid of Cornwall Wildlife Trust on Sunday 3rd June from 2.00pm to 5.00pm.

The house faithfully replicates a traditional 18th-century Cornish farmhouse and perfectly complements its setting. Semi-formal gardens sweep around the front and south sides of the building while a large conservatory opens onto a spacious stone flagged terrace from where the views can be enjoyed.

On the south side below the house is a large natural pond. Paths lead from the garden into grassland and wildflower meadows with further views, and mown paths lead the visitor into a shrubbery and on to woodland walks. There is a piece of 18th-century parkland with a woodland belt and some fine specimen trees.

Entrance is adults £5 with children under-16 free. Pasties, cream teas, and refreshments by Crantocks Bakery, Roddas and Cornish Coffee will be available. There is some disabled access. Dogs are not allowed.

Chris Betty, Communications Officer for Cornwall Wildlife Trust, says,

“We just love the views from the terrace where you can sit and enjoy a pasty or a cream tea. The owners have also asked Meadowside Nurseries to be there so there will be an opportunity to buy plants for your own gardens.”

To find Little Park Farm from the Trafalgar roundabout in Truro follow the road to Malpas, past the cricket ground to Sunny Corner where the road is close to the river edge. Turn left into lane with sign Little Park.

This is the eighth year running that the Trust has held their highly successful Open Gardens scheme.
