The six winners of Cornwall Wildlife Trusts’ prestigious wildlife photography competition were announced this week during an evening ceremony at Truro cathedral, which also marked the opening of the photography exhibition to the public.

Over 250 guests attended to learn who the judges had awarded the top honours to, whittling it down from five finalists in each category to one ultimate winner in each.

Winners on the night were:

Mark James for ‘Bar tailed godwit’. Feathered Friends category, sponsored by South West Optics.

David Hamilton  for ‘Sea salps’. Ocean Wonders category, sponsored by Stormshore.

Peter Batt  for ‘Lichens on tree branch’. Terrestrial Treasures category, sponsored by Wildnet.

George Turner for ‘Green tiger beetle’. Micro Marvels category, sponsored by Seasalt.

Samuel Norris for ‘Common frog’. Young Photographer category, sponsored by Classic Cottages.

The exhibition is now open at Truro Cathedral daily until 13th November, where visitors can view all 30 finalists' photographs and cast their vote in the ‘People’s Choice Award’ - choosing a people’s winner to be announced at the end of November. If you can’t attend the event, voting is also open via our website now, find all the entries and cast your vote here.
