Frugi, the award-winning organic children’s clothes brand, confirmed its reputation as one of Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s biggest business funders recently. A huge number of its customers have backed the Trust by choosing the charity to benefit from the company’s donation scheme.
The Little Clothes, BIG Change initiative was launched in June last year to give Frugi customers a direct say in what cause it would like the business to support.
The Trust was one of three lucky charities to be shortlisted and received an incredible mid-year payment of £10,945; the next donation is due in June 2018 and could see the total amount double!
This huge donation is given to support the Trust’s ‘Living Seas’ marine conservation programme which works hard to protect marine life in and around Cornwall’s coastal waters. Ruth Williams who manages this area commented:
“Our long term relationship with the fabulous Frugi means that we can continue to work to better protect our Cornish seas and all that lives in it.
This donation in particular will help us to progress some of our work to raise awareness of the impacts of marine plastics and to encourage people to reduce the amount of plastics they use.
Our recent ‘Love Your Beach Day’ had hundreds of volunteers taking part in beach cleans all around the county to show that we care and want to do our bit to help look after our beaches. With Frugi’s help we can, thank you Frugi!”
The very welcome funding from Frugi was in addition to £3,000 that had been received at the start of last year before the Little Clothes, BIG Change programme started.
All the donations made are used to make a difference to Cornwall’s seas in three ways: by collecting data on marine wildlife to monitor its health, creating awareness of the threats to marine life and campaigning for better protection for our marine species and habitats.
