Visitors can see this for themselves when the garden at Praze-an-Beeble opens to the public on Sunday July 3rd in aid of Cornwall Wildlife Trust.

The present owners purchased the farm in 2002 and set about lovingly restoring the farmhouse and its outbuildings. The grounds are between two and three acres of which some is used for animals and some turned over to garden.

The gardens and a cafe and shop used to open weekly but were closed in 2014. Now the owners are re-opening for the Trust taking the garden in a different direction encouraging wildlife and nature wherever possible.

The garden consists of granite lined flower borders leading to the farmhouse courtyard behind which is a shade and bog garden. Up a rose walk, past chickens and a herb garden, is the patchwork and vegetable garden, a wildlife pond and an orchard leading to the greenhouse and shepherds hut garden.

The Trust’s Open Gardens scheme has had six new gardens open for the first time this year along with the regular favourites. Trevoole Farm is one of these new locations. It opens from 2pm to 5pm. Admission is £4 with under 16s free. Dogs are welcomed on leads, and refreshments will be provided.

Chris Betty, Communications officer for Cornwall Wildlife Trust says,

“Trevoole Farm garden is an exciting new garden opening for us for the first time, and it is particularly interesting to see how they have made the accent on wildlife. The varied areas of the garden will also be sure to have something of interest for everyone.”
