Penwith mountain bikers raise £550 for local wildlife
Penwith MTB is a local group of mountain bike riders who get together on a regular basis to ride the stunning local moors and bridleways of west Cornwall. In previous years they have organised charity rides for Cornwall Air Ambulance and the RNLI.
The ride took place on Sunday 3rd April and was 24 miles long, 95% of which was off road starting near to Ding Dong mine near Madron and looping around the Penwith peninsula.
Darren Smith, Event Organiser for Penwith MTB said,
“We are a local mountain biking group who like to work with local people and charities and when looking for a worthy cause to fundraise for this year we decided upon Cornwall Wildlife Trust. With 27 riders joining us for the event we managed to raise in excess of £550 which we hope will help maintain and look after our local area and wildlife”.
Jackie Southon, Deputy Head of Marketing and Fundraising for Cornwall Wildlife Trust says,
“We’re so pleased that Darren and the team at Penwith MTB decided to raise money for us. Their support is very much appreciated and the impressive funds raised are a great help to the Trust and our work”.
