Looe MCG Talk & Meeting: Astonishing Grey Seals
, PL13 1AH
About the event
Whilst grey seal pups are superbly adapted to life in the sea, with mortality rates of between 40 - 75%, their first few months can be tough as they learn to fend for themselves. Explore the world (made possible by big camera lenses) of local mums and pups and witness their amazing transformation. This multimedia talk is fully illustrated with photos and videos of seals in Cornwall.
Sue Sayer is an internationally renowned researcher and author. To Sue there is no such thing as an average seal. Each one looks different, has an individual personality, range of habits and migration route around the Celtic Sea! Sue founded the Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust in 2000 – a multi award winning, evidence-based citizen science conservation charity. Sue’s philosophy is inspired by the Ecozoic and is all about sharing our seas successfully. Sue’s MBE is for services to Wildlife Protection and Conservation.
The talk will be followed by our in-person monthly meeting to which all are welcome. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. This is a FREE event but donations to Looe Marine Conservation Group are welcome.
