Habitat Condition Surveyor
Key Responsibilities
• Join us on staff-led surveys at Helman Tor monitoring the variety of habitats across the reserve.
• Use the mobile app ‘Survey 123’ to record and submit survey data directly to us.
Requirements
• Commitment to survey your adopted site(s) annually to ensure robust data collection.
• Enthusiasm for wildlife conservation and a keen interest in plants and habitats.
Experience of habitat condition assessments and/or plant identification skills is desirable but not essential.
Keep an eye out for upcoming ERCCIS workshops on plant identification and habitat condition assessments if you would like to boost your skills.
- Training will be provided in the field
- You will receive instructions on how to download Survey123 prior to the survey
Surveys are conducted outdoors between the months of May and September. Some reserves are in remote locations so access to a car may be needed.
This role will require walking substantial distances over uneven, wet and occasionally slippery terrain. There may also be steep inclines, gates and/or stiles to go across. Volunteers should be comfortable both standing and walking for long periods of time.
The role will be from May 2025 to September 2025.
