Wilder Food
Cornwall has a long heritage of producing food.
Around 74% of Cornwall's land is farmed, mostly to produce food, and we are working with farmers to refine local land management to allow wildlife-friendly farming to thrive.
Similarly, our seas are full of life, with Cornwall's fishing industry being revived through crabs oyster and lobster fishing. The recent discovery of a rare seahorse at the Fal oyster fishery shows how traditional sustainable local fishing can support wildlife as well as our coastal fishing economy.
We want to support farmers and fisheries who have wildlife and welfare for their livestock at the heart of their food production, whilst boosting our local economy.
If you're interested in wilder food, or want to help produce it in Cornwall email us at wilderfood@cornwallwildlifetrust.org.uk – we’d love to hear from you.
