Winter gets interesting birdsAbout the reserve
This is a lowland heath, a rare and valuable habitat in the UK. The heath is very different to the surrounding farmland because of the poor acidic soils which support an abundance of plants, insects and birds specially adapted for life on the heathland. For this reason, Tregonetha Downs is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
